Samantha enjoys guiding and supporting new and professional researchers on a wide range of British history topics. Whether it’s exploring life within an institution at a moment in time, or, more generally, understanding the dynamics of welfare, charity and poverty in society in the past, please do ask for her friendly guidance.

Samantha is commissioned to write pieces for a variety of outlets, including a university textbook chapter and a popular A-Level History magazine. Book proposals and book review requests are also welcome.

Talks and Guest Events

Samantha is always excited to talk about British welfare and social history from the eighteenth century to the present day. This includes teaching sessions, guest lectures and workshops. She has also chaired and organised conferences, trained new researchers, and talked to school students.
